Dad's Mess
Taken from the book "Behind Closed Doors"
The rumours are spreading like tumours
Mum and Dad arguing
Mum ends up crying
I’m at the door listening
While Dads in there denying
That it’s not his.
Talking about a baby
Dad’s personal life is crazy
I’ve got three sisters and two brothers
Who Dad’s had with different lovers
There’s no togetherness
We’re all in different places
The only connection is we have similar faces.
I’m getting away from all the arguing
Going to drown my stress in raving
Fed up of south so we’re going over west
I met this girl nicer than the rest
We started seeing each other
Unaware of what we were about to discover
My Dad was once her Mum’s lover.
Some might say what does that matter
It does, when your girls mother
Finishes the sentence with…
Your girl’s not your girl but your sister
That my Dad had got her pregnant and left her
He didn’t even know his own daughter
When he saw her.
I felt completely nauseous
Unlike my Dad
I don’t lead with my penis
We took things slowly to be sure
Before moving onto more
I wanted to get away
So I went over west
And still got caught up in Dad’s mess.
